logan pass, glacier national park

We made it! We had to change our plans because of the wildfires, but we still made it to Glacier National Park.... and we brought snacks.

We drove up the Going to the Sun road to Logan Pass. This was as far as we could go since the road past here is closed because of the wildfires.

It was really chilly up there, so the girls ended up with new sweatshirts before starting on our 1.8 mile hike to Hidden Lake.

The hike was long. Emma did amazing and walked (or jumped) almost the entire hike.

Olivia took the easy route and rode on my back pretty much the entire way.

We saw lots of flowers, flowing water and animals (Columbian ground squirrels, marmots, a big horn sheep and a mountain goat) before making it to the lake.

The hike took us over 2 hours round trip, so we were all hiked out after that. That didn’t stop us from driving to check out some other places, and of course stopping to collect rocks.

Olivia discovered the pocket on the front of her new sweatshirt was perfect for holding all her rocks.

A fun, successful day called for ice cream!
