st. croix

We went back and forth at least 100 times - should we stay or should we go? St. Croix is the largest of the three main islands in the USVI. Not many people we talked to had been there, but the snorkeling was supposed to be pretty cool. In the end we decided to go... and if it wasn't for the upcoming weather we would have stayed longer.

We could only stay a couple days because the weather this week will make it unpleasant to get back to St. Thomas if we want to go back any time soon. We try to avoid unpleasant if we can, so we made the most of the days we had to explore. We snorkled every day and every day we saw something different - turtles, stingrays, eagle rays, octopus, fish, eels. The amount of coral was the most impressive we've seen. All right on the pillars of the cruise ship pier.

Add St. Croix to the list of places we want to visit again. Fun fact for Austin - St. Croix has flown seven different flags since it was first colonized in 1643 - Spain, Great Britian, the Netherlands, France, the Knights of Malta, Denmark and finally the United States.
