Once we decided on a route down to Florida it was time to pack the car and get on the road. Our goal was to get to New Orleans in two days, spend a day exploring the city and then get to Florida on the fourth day.

Our first stop - World's Largest Truckstop in Iowa.

We stopped for the night in St. Louis. We took a quick detour on our way to the hotel to see the arch.

The first new state for all of us was Arkansas. We drove through miles and miles of cotton fields.
Fun fact for Austin - Texas is the largest cotton producer in the US with 40% of the nations total production. Other top producing states include Georgia, Mississippi and Arkansas.

We followed up Arkansas with a quick drive through both Tennessee and Mississippi.

We spent a little over 24 hours in New Orleans. We tried to do as much as we could in the short visit - we ate great food, enjoyed the cool view from our hotel right in the French Quarter, had beignets, visited the WWII museum and spent a couple hours at the Audubon Aquarium. There was so much to see and do and eat. We definitely need to go back because we didn't get to spend nearly enough time here.

We can't drive by a Bucc-ee's and not stop. Luckily it was in Mississippi, which was another state we had never been to.

Alabama - our final stop before making it to Florida.

Success! Made it to Florida AND filled in four new states on our map. Now the real work begins getting the boat ready for another season.
